•    DON’T BE A STALKER!  Your ex has called things off because he needed a break – so give him one. Being perpetually hassled is not going to do you any favors. He needs some time to realize that he wants your company. The same goes for letting him see you hurt – try not to let him see he has the upper hand.

•    BE REASONABLE : Don’t make unfair  requests. If you have agreed to a thing (be it letting him keep his stuff at yours) then honor that agreement. The pressure is on you to try and find a way to get him to see you in a positive light. Concentrate on being the peacemaker and try and build some bridges. You are still within your rights not to accept every single demand he makes, however.

•    DON’T SIT ABOUT MOPING!: You had a life before you met him, right- so get out and do things that you like doing. It doesn’t have to be a date (although this certainly isn’t a bad thing) but try and stay positive. It won’t hurt to let your ex see you can have a good time without him!

•    BE YOURSELF :  Definitely don’t try and live up to what you think is someone else’s expectations of you. He chose you because he saw something in you that he wanted.  There is no need to start changing yourself drastically to fit in with you think their idea of perfect is. It should be sufficient that you can be happy as you are!

•    BUT… BE PREPARED TO TAKE STUFF ON BOARD:  Did he say why when he split with you? If he did, and there were any details of the relationship that he cited as being the problem, now is the time to think about them? Do you think your relationship needs more quality time together? Have you been arguing about money? If the issue is essentially superficial it may be simpler to fix than if it is a basic question of compatibility. You will have to ask – How badly do you want to change?
